Description: Isoholman Laavu is a hut in Teijon kansallispuisto. It is located on an island in Matildanjärvi. You have to use a kayak, canoe, SUP board or row boat to get out there. You can rent one from Teijo Nature Center which is right by the parking lot / lake. A big thanks to Samoilija Kalevi for letting us use the video & pictures

Other names:: What type of hut is this? This is an Open Hut: This is our own classification, there is no Finnish translation. But many cities & neighborhoods that are building new huts are not building a Laavu / Laavut anymore. They are building a more modern / comfortable hut. One that is more of a box shaped, with a roof and partially enclosed walls. It is still "open," exposed to the weather but still blocks the weather. Many will have a picnic bench inside, woodpile, axe & saw you can use.
