Description: The Ränkänsaari wilderness hut is located on the island of Ränkänsaari. It is a good location to stay if you are kayking the Tervareitti kayaking route (in between Lake Iivantiirajärvi and Lake Aidasjärvi) The suggestion for kayakers is to land on the north side, in the small cove, then walk along the small path to the Laavu. (see aerial photo). There are 4 bunk beds so the cabin can fit 8 people If you are coming here in the winter check the ice carefully. The current in the strait can weaken the ice. Metsähallitus, Ostrobothnia–Kainuu Nature Services, Kuhmo is responsible for maintenance.
