Description: The Niemisjoki hiking and fishing trail offers varied terrain, beginning at Ähtäri Zoo and including village roads and more challenging paths along the Niemisjoki River. The river, historically used for wood floating and restored in 2010, supports trout and rainbow trout fishing with a permit. Along the trail, hikers can experience rapids, primeval spruce forests, beaver activity, and amenities like lean-tos and toilets at Ohrakoski. The trail features some root-filled sections making it demanding for biking and slippery wooden boards after rain, but generally has no major elevation changes.
