Hyrynsalmi Wilderness Huts

The hut on Ukkohalla slopes offers great views and serves snacks. It is open during slope hours. It can be used by anyone, if you are on the slopes, hiking, biking or snowshoeing.

Syväjärven puolikota is a new half hut in Ukkohalla on Lake Syväjärvi maintained by the city of Hyrynsalmi. It can be reached by car but it is also on a hiking, biking, walking and snowmobile trail.

Louhenkoski laavu is on Lietejoki River and on the UKK hiking trail.

A hut that is located in Ukkohalla Ski Resort, right at the bottom of the slopes. The hut is open according to the opening hours of the slopes. Ukkohalla Ski Resort maintains the hut.

Pitkänkoski laavu is near Ukkohalla on the Lietejoki River. It is on the Syväjoki-Lietejoki melontareitti kayaking route and the UKK-reitti Hyrynsalmi hiking trail. A good location on the river at the edge of some rapids.

Paskonkoski is on the Tuomivaara hiking trail and also the Syväjoki-Lietejoki melontareitti (kayking route). It is also pretty close to the Hyrynsalmen / Ukkohallan ladut ski trail.

The Riihilampi is on Tulisuo-Varpusuo hiking trail on Lake Riihilampi.

Kynäkoski Laavu is a good hut if you are into fishing. It is located on a river that is part of a eco-fishing area for trout fly fishermen called kynäkosket. Kynäkoski (rapids) about half a kilometer, right below Lake Niemelänjärvi. The hut is only 300 meters from the parking lot

Hoikkajärvi kota is located on Lake Hoikkajärvi near the Ukkohalla tourist center. The hut is located on a snowmobile trail but you can also get pretty close by car.

Lean -to on the shore of the Suvanto below Komulankönkä. Campfire site, firewood maintenance, wooden.

The Löytöjoki laavu is on the Löytöjoki River, near the Saarijärvi wilderness area. There is a hiking trail that goes to the laavu but also you can get pretty close by car.

The Ala-Niittyjärvi hut is located in a beautiful Lake Niityjärvi. There is a snowmobile trail that goes near to the hut. It can also be reached by car or bike on the dirt roads.

The Ristikoski laavu is located between Hyrynsalmi and Ukkohalla on the beautiful Ristikoski beach / rapids. It is on a biking & snowmobile trail but can also be reached by car. The laavu is about 100 meters from Rehvelintie parking.

Joutensuo hut is located in the middle of a large marsh and is on a biking, hiking and ski trail. It is a great campfire spot.

Lampilaavu is on Luvankoski hiking trail right near the rapids. It is a very good fishing spot. There is an outdoor grill, woodshed and table. Maintenance in the Moisio Permit Kalavesi Party.

Kallioniemi laavu is on Lake Hyrynjärvi. You can reach it by hiking on the Hugo Hiking Trail.

The Vonka caravan area is on Lake Hyrynjärvi.

Kalliojärvi hut is located just outside of Ukkohalla tourist center over looking Lake Kalliojärvi. You can get to this location by bike or car.

Vanhalaavu is on Luvankoski nature trail and next to a rapids fishing spot. A small and friendly resting place in a great location.

Viittasara hut is located on Lake Luvanjärvi and is a great place to stop if you are by boat, but you can also get to it by car. Maintenance in the Moisio Permit Kalavesi Party.

(as of 2024, the cabin is closed for fire saftey). A cabin on the Vorlokinkierros hiking trail. A small cabin for 4 persons that has a fireplace in the main living room, and a fireplace / gas stove in the kitchen, toilet, campfire place and even a wood heated sauna in a separate building! The sauna can only be used by the renters of the cabin.

Matalaniemen laavu or Matalaniemi Hut is a Lean-to, campfire site with a toilet. There is a pier at Matalajärvi lake. and a WC. This hut can be reached by the Tulisuo-Varpusuo hiking trail (Tulisuo-Varpusuo retkeilyreittiä)
