Description

The Kuurna–Kuluntalahti kayaking route is a short point-to-point paddle on Nuasjärvi in Kajaani. It runs about 3.7 km along Kuluntalahti bay from the Kuurna melontalaituri put-in toward the Petäisenniska shore, where the city’s large Petäisenniskan venesatama marina, a boat ramp, and a campfire spot sit close together. For planning any Nuasjärvi paddle, the City of Kajaani publishes route hubs and downloadable material on its Kajaanin melontareitit pages. The same site links to the Melo Kajaanissa brochure and Retkikartta.fi listings developed in the regional water-trail project. Local club Kajaanin Latu runs Meloja 1 beginner courses and Tuesday evening group paddles from Kuurnan melontatalli beside the Kuurna launch; details and sign-up are on Kajaanin Latu’s melonta pages. Length & route

About 3.7 km point-to-point on lake Nuasjärvi, following the north side of Kuluntalahti bay from Kuurna melontalaituri toward Petäisenniska (marina, boat ramp, and campfire spot cluster). No portage. The route is not a loop.

Getting there

Put in at Kuurna melontalaituri (address shown on our stop: Kuurnan talli, 87250 Kajaani). Kajaanin Latu describes Kuurnan melontatalli at the end of the spur between Kuurnantie 97 and 99; free gravel parking sits beside the barn. By car, follow local roads to Kuurna and the melontatalli access. Take out or stage gear at Petäisenniskan venesatama, Petäisentie 23, 87400 Kajaani—the City of Kajaani lists slipways, services, and contact details for harbours on its marina page.

Good to know

The Kuluntalahti village area northeast of central Kajaani has a long local history on Nuasjärvi; for trail-specific updates, rely on the City of Kajaani and Kajaanin Latu rather than unofficial aggregators.
