Jongunjoki canoeing route starting point

Pajakkasuvanto kayaking pier is right before the Pajakkakoski rapids. It is a pier build to help kayakers get in and out of their kayaks easily. The Pajakkakoski canoeing pier is not a very good starting point, as there is no road next to it, only a cycle path. It is better to get to the water a little further from Maakunnanranta . You can swim from the pier, but it is not suitable for small children. Please note that there are currents on the shore.

Vene- tai kanoottilaituri

Behind the winter war museum (Talvisotamuseo) on the shore of Kalevankangas there is a nice kayaking pier to launch your canoe or kayak. Just follow the small road behind the museum to the shore. It is a good starting point for trips on Lammasjärv, like to Harakkasaari or Honkinen islands. The beach is very rocky and not supervised. It is possible to drive down to the pier to launch your boat.
The canoeing route across Lake Lentiiranjärvi begins here. Many decide to start the Kainuu Tervareit kayaking route from this location. As the other side ( Sääskenniemi, Änättijärvi) can be very rocky when the water is low. There is no pier or anything here, but there is a parking lot you can leave the car and it is relatively easily to get your kayak in the water. Estimated distances from this location: Käntinsalmi: 9 km Lentiira holiday village: 12 km

If you are on the Kainuu Tervareit kayaking route this is the launch site after you bypass the Katerma power plant. You are going to need to bypass another power plant in about 10 kilometers (Kallioinen power plant). The Ontojoki River used to have powerful rapids but not it is in between two power plants. It is good to keep in mind that the current can be very strong in this 10 km stretch, especially in the narrow parts. There are trout, pike, white fish and perch in the river. They also stock the river with rainbow trout.

The Käntinsalmi boat launch / beach is a great starting place to jump on the Kainuu tar route. It is located on Lake Lentiira. You can also use the location for swimming or parking your caravan.
Find accessible spots to enter the water. These launch sites make it easy to start your kayaking or boating adventure.
