Hattelmalanjärven lintutornille lähtevä polku starttaa Aleksis Kiven tien parkkipaikalta aivan 10-tien tuntumasta. Hattelmalanjärvi ja osa sen ympäristöä on luonnonsuojelualuetta. Järvi tunnetaan alueella hyvänä lintujärvenä. Paikka onkin erityisesti keväällä ja syksyllä lintujen muuton aikoihin upea retkikohde. Parkkipaikalta on vain noin 300 m kävelymatka tornille. Lähellä tornia kuivalla maalla on myös mukavaa metsikköä evästelyyn ja leikkeihin. Alueella ei ole nuotiopaikkaa eikä WC:tä.
Honkalanranta on yksityinen luonnonsuojelualue Hämeenlinnan Kahilistossa Katumajärven rannassa. Maisemaa entistämässä on kesälampaita. Alueelle on talkoovoimin valmistunut Kanta-Hämeen lintutieteellisen yhdistyksen lintutorni, lato, pitkospuut, luontopolku sekä laavu ulkoilijoille.
