Description

Lapinniemi Trail is a short loop of about 0.8 km on Ruostejärvi recreation area in Tammela, Kanta-Häme. The path circles the Lapinniemi peninsula and ties together the beach, shoreline forest, and lean-tos that make the wider area popular with families. For the recreation area as a whole—access, maps, and services—start from Luontoon.fi’s Ruostejärvi page; Visit Häme’s Lipas listing summarises the trail network, shoreline highlights, and how Ruostejärvi connects to longer hiking through Hämeen Ilvesreitti toward Liesjärvi National Park, Torronsuo, and Saaren kansanpuisto. Retkipaikka notes that Lapinniemenpolku continues from the swimming beach as a compact 0.8 km circuit. Out in the Nature describes the route as marked in red on the area trail map and often walked in winter on foot when conditions allow. Along the loop you pass very close to Myllylahden laavu within the first few hundred metres—a roofed rest spot beside Myllylahti where you can stop for a campfire when forest fire warnings allow. About halfway around you reach Lapinniemenmäen laavu on the forested slope above Härkätie, with views toward the lake. Length & route

The trail is about 0.8 km as one loop on Lapinniemi. Allow roughly 15–25 minutes at an easy pace with a stop at a lean-to or the beach. The Ruostejärvi area lists several other short routes of different lengths; Lapinniemi Trail is the compact peninsula circuit.

Getting there

By car from main road 2, turn onto Härkätie toward Porras; the main parking for Ruostejärvi is at Härkätie 810, 31380 Tammela, with room for many cars and an information board at the car park. Out in the Nature describes the approach from road 2 along Härkätie for about 1.5 km to the parking area on the left. The nearest bus stop is “Eerikkilä th” on road 2, about 1.7 km from the area.

Good to know

Campfires are only at designated fireplaces when no forest fire warning is in effect; check warnings before you light a fire. In summer, review blue-green algae information before swimming; information boards by the beach often carry the latest water results. Dogs are welcome in the recreation area but follow normal rules for public beaches when people are swimming. Equipment rental and other services are available nearby at Eerikkilä Sport and Outdoor Resort.
