Pohjantikka trail is about 4.7 km on our map as a loop in Liesjärvi National Park in Tammela, Kanta-Häme. It is marked in blue and spends much of its time in older forest beside Lake Liesjärvi, with a shoreline stretch toward the Pitkäkärki peninsula where a break on the rocks or sand is easy to plan. The terrain is only modestly hilly, but hikers describe steady obstacles from windthrows, roots, and stones, so progress is slower than the kilometre count suggests. Boardwalks cross the wettest mires; most are in good repair though a few older sections need care when damp. About 3 km along the loop, Korteniemi parkkipaikka and the linked Korteniemi tulipaikka and Korteniemi uusi kaivo cluster as the practical heart of Korteniemi: parking, water from the well, and a campfire spot for food and coffee. Lehdos parkkipaikka farther along Korteniementie is the usual start for Punatulkun polku if you want to stitch a short red loop onto the blue circuit. The yellow-marked Ilvesreitti crosses the same junction network, so longer treks toward Savilahti camping or Kyynäränharju are possible from the same hub. The very short green Ahonnokan luontopolku also starts from Korteniemi for visitors who want a compact add-on before or after the blue loop. Korteniemi heritage farm beside Korteniemi parkkipaikka is an open-air destination in its own right (1910s forest ranger farm atmosphere); summer opening hours and accessibility are published by Metsähallitus rather than covered here in detail.

Length & route

The trail is about 4.7 km on our map as a single blue-marked loop through forest and lakeshore in Liesjärvi National Park. Luontopolkumies timed roughly one and a half hours for the walking distance before a food break and calls the outing moderately demanding because of deadwood and rough footing rather than steep climbs. Out in the Nature rounds the loop to about 5 km and highlights duckboards, mixed pine stands, and frequent fallen trunks to step over. The same junction area links to the yellow Ilvesreitti long-distance route and to Punatulkun polku for optional combinations.

Getting there

By car from Helsinki–Pori road 2, follow signs toward the national park and avoid turning onto Hennontie if your navigator suggests it; switch to Kansallispuistontie, then Korteniementie as described for Korteniemi. Korteniemi parkkipaikka is at Korteniementie 242 beside the heritage farm, with the blue trail leaving from that yard area. Lehdos parkkipaikka along the same road is signed for Punatulkku access and carries a picnic table in Out in the Nature’s notes. Buses stop near Kyynärä in Tammela with roughly 4 km of walking remaining; tickets and timetables are linked from Liikkuminen.fi operators rather than repeated here. National park visitors should follow Metsähallitus instructions for pets, firewood, and camping on Luontoon.fi.
