Description

Torro Village Route is about 9.6 km of hiking in Torronsuo National Park in Tammela, Kanta-Häme. It is the park’s longest marked summer walking route from the Kiljamo service area: raised-bog duckboards, forest paths, and a stretch through Torro village and past old quarry scenery described in regional guides, with links into the wider Häme Lynx Trail where routes meet. Metsähallitus publishes maps, rules, and season notes for all Torronsuo trails on the national park hiking and outdoor recreation pages on Luontoon.fi. Retkipaikka summarises Kiljamo and Pehku parking along the Forssa–Somero road, birdlife and berry picking, and notes that the long village circuit was rerouted to keep walkers mainly off busy road verges. The trail is about 9.6 km. Published walking descriptions often round the classic Torro village tour to roughly 10 km and describe it as a day hike from Kiljamo that returns to the same service area; some older texts still mention short road walking, while Retkipaikka notes a newer alignment that stays mainly off the road verge.

Getting there

By car, use regional road 282 between Forssa and Somero. Kiljamo parking and the main trailhead lie along Somerontie on the north side of Torro village; Pehku parking is the second official park lot on the same road and suits drivers who need more space or want to stage a shorter join to the long circuit. Metsähallitus gives detailed driving directions and capacity notes on the Torronsuo National Park arrival pages on Luontoon.fi. There is no public transport to the park gates; buses reach Forssa and Somero, then you need a taxi or private transfer.

Good to know

National park rules apply: stay on marked trails in sensitive mire zones, light fires only at designated sites, and follow Metsähallitus seasonal restrictions such as bird nesting periods in restricted areas. Overnight camping is not allowed inside the park boundary. Dogs must be kept on a leash. Everyman’s rights do not apply everywhere in strict nature reserves within the park, so read the destination pages before leaving marked routes.
