Vieriharju sauna is a wood-fired wilderness sauna beside Vieriharjun porokämppä in Urho Kekkonen National Park on the Savukoski side of Lapland. The Municipality of Savukoski is the municipality for Kemihaara access; Metsähallitus manages the protected area and on-site services. For maps and permits, Savukoski Visitor Centre Korvatunturi is the staffed visitor centre. You can haul washing and löyly water from the stream beside Vieriharjun porokämppä toward the Kemijoki. Metsähallitus asks visitors to treat drinking water carefully; follow the hygiene guidance on the park service hub. There is no grid electricity, only firelight and batteries. The yard around Vieriharjun porokämppä includes a campfire ring, woodshed, and Vieriharju kuivakäymälä; trip journals describe a gas stove and indoor fireplace for cooking. The newer buildings replaced an older reindeer-herder camp from the 1960s, with a 2003 completion year in facility listings. The stop lies on the Kemihaara–Korvatunturi Ridge trail, which Korvatunturi–Savukoski describes as an 18 km one-way, demanding marked route toward Korvatunturi fell. Summer hikers report about nine kilometres of forest travel from the Kemihaara information point with sparse signing, so navigation skills matter. Winter travellers often ski along the packed snowmobile lane. Continuing to Korvatunturi summit in the border zone requires a separate border permit. Well-behaved dogs on a leash suit the usual trail etiquette. Since 2018 Metsähallitus has used a phone-based charge for several open wilderness saunas in the park, including this one. Treat examples in Latu & Polku of euro amounts and hotline numbers as outdated hints and read Metsähallitus’s current instructions before you call. Getting there

Motor access stops at the Kemihaara visitor parking on the Savukoski side of Urho Kekkonen National Park; Korvatunturi–Savukoski places it about 107 km north of Savukoski village centre. Continue on foot or skis along the Kemihaara–Korvatunturi Ridge trail toward Vieriharju sauna; carry a map and compass because forest sections can be thinly signed. Winter parties often follow the packed snowmobile track. There is no drive-up access to the sauna door.
