Mäkränmaja trail is a very short walking connection in Koli National Park in Lieksa, North Karelia. The trail is about 0.3 km and leads through old-growth forest at the foot of Mäkrävaara to Mäkränmaja vuokratupa, a reservable wilderness hut managed by Metsähallitus. Getting there

Metsähallitus Eräluvat gives full driving directions by season. In summer, from Kolin luontokeskus Ukko you follow Ylä-Kolintie downhill about 2 km, turn left onto Jerontie for 1.3 km, then left onto Kotaniementie for 3 km, then left onto Pienen Mäkrän tie for 1.9 km, and follow signs toward Mäkrän maja; you may park at a junction about 1.4 km along the last approach, or use a rough side road for roughly another 250 m, or drive to the hut verge if conditions allow without blocking the road. In winter the driving route runs via Koli village and Rantatie to a forest-road junction (post 27), with about 1 km of unplowed forest road walking uphill to the hut. Hikers coming from Ukko-Koli should plan on the roughly 5 km walk stated on the same page. Luontoon.fi’s Koli section has maps and connections for combining this approach with other trails.
