Description

Vihaslahti Birdwatching Tower Trail is a compact loop of about 0.1 km beside Vihaslahti bay on Kalajoki’s Hiekkasärkät coast in North Ostrobothnia. Luontoon.fi describes the setting: Vihaslahti is a former sea bay among the dune landscapes, with land-uplift shoreline meadows and sand shores that keep changing; an about 100-metre path leads from the namesake rest area to Vihaslahti lintutorni, with views across the bay and meadows. Visit Kalajoki explains that the wider bay area in the Vihas-Keihäslahti nature reserve draws many bird species feeding and nesting, that summer grazing sheep often show up in the fields, and that boardwalk and embankment trails from the resort make the approach easy for walking or cycling (for example on the order of four kilometres one way from Marine Nature Centre or a shorter hop from Tahkokorvi near Restaurant Lohilaakso). Length & route

The trail is about 0.1 km as a small loop around the bird tower and rest cluster at Vihaslahti. It is not the full Hiekkasärkät–Vihaslahti boardwalk hike; that longer approach is covered on Visit Kalajoki and Retkipaikka. Allow about 15–25 minutes with time on the tower.

Drivers typically use Vihaslahti pysäköintipaikka beside the bay facilities. Visit Kalajoki describes walking or cycling from Hiekkasärkät via boardwalk and embankment trails, including distances from Marine Nature Centre and the Tahkokorvi–Lohilaakso shortcut.
