Kuusamo Safaris directs drivers along Liikasenvaarantie past Oulanka Nature Centre, over the bridge, then about 200 m and right toward the boat ramp, following the road roughly 2 km to the launch. Take out at Oulankajoki, Jäkälämutkan vesillelaskupaikka (Jäkälämutkantie / Jäkäläniemi area). Commercial renters often include return transport from Jäkälämutka back toward the start—confirm times when booking.

Good to know

Seasonal water levels change how shallow sections feel; check Luontoon.fi and Metsähallitus materials before you go. Wood fires are only where permitted and when fire warnings allow—carry a stove backup in dry summers. The lower river lies in the Finnish border zone: follow posted rules and any Border Guard guidance for the area. Wildlife can include reindeer along sandbanks and birds along the corridor—give animals space and avoid disturbing nesting areas. If you plan to lure-fish from the river, you need an angling permit for the permit area plus the fisheries management fee where rules apply; buy permits and read conditions on Eräluvat.
