Description

The Wolf Circle Trail (Ahmankierros) is about 14.9 km point-to-point through Syöte National Park in Pudasjärvi, North Ostrobothnia. Luontoon.fi carries reserve rules, maps, and service contacts for Syöte National Park. Syöte.fi pulls the day-hike network together: well over 120 km of marked paths, maps and live advice from Syötteen luontokeskus, and Ahman kierros at about 17 km on its popular day-route list. This line begins at the Ylpiätupa päivätupa cluster with Ylpiätupa WC liiteri and soon crosses spruce stands and mire edges. About 6.3 km in, Välitupa päivätupa and Välitupa tulentekopaikka make a natural halfway-style break before the climb toward Ahmatupa autiotupa and Ahmatupa vuokratupa around 6.9 km. That site combines an open wilderness end and a reservable end in one log building from 1989 with a 2002 renovation, plus Ahmatupa kota, Ahmatupa sauna, Ahmatupa kaivo, and firewood shelter and toilets in the Ahmatupa polttopuusuoja-kuivakäymälä-jätteiden keräypiste group—Eräluvat spells out sauna access for rental guests, high-season skiers on the approach trail, and a wilderness café operating at the open end during February–April. Expect forest foot tread, roots, stones, and mire boardwalks typical of Syöte.

Getting there

Syöte.fi directs walkers to buy maps and the latest track news at Syötteen luontokeskus, with the centre yard serving as the main skiing and hiking gateway toward Ahmatupa. Eräluvat repeats that Ahmatupa is roughly eight kilometres into the park on foot or skis from that yard. Park at Luontokeskus pysäköointialue beside Syötteen luontokeskus if you join the route from the south, or coordinate access via the Ylpiätupa side when you start from the northern hut cluster—carry a park map because several yellow-marked branches leave the visitor-centre lawn. Good to know

Book Ahmatupa vuokratupa through Eräluvat; the open Ahmatupa autiotupa follows general hut etiquette from Luontoon.fi, with firewood to use sparingly and water from Ahmatupa kaivo boiled when used as drinking water in summer.
