Description

Kuorasjärven Sauna is a wood-heated rental beach sauna on Lake Kuorasjärvi in Sydänmaa, Alavus, in South Ostrobothnia, booked through the Sydänmaa village website. It sits with Kylätalo Hukkatupa: the löyly and changing space are paired with a small sauna cottage that has a stove for heating wash water, a cold tap, a fireplace stove, fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, plus a sofa bed for overnight stays. The yard has a large pier, a grill shelter, a beach volleyball court with net, and a dry toilet; the public Kuorasjärvi beach next door has changing cabins and a WC under the care of the City of Alavus. Members of the village association pay lower rates and get one free sauna session per summer and winter season as stated on the booking page. In winter, an ice swimming hole (avanto) is looked after for cold-water dips. The same shoreline has Kuorasjärven Uimaranta and Kuorasjärven beachvolleykenttä steps away, and Mäkivuoren laavu is a short distance inland. Cross-country skiers and runners use Mäenvuoren valaistu latu and Mäenvuoren kuntorata in the wider Mäenvuori–Mäkivuori outdoor network. Larger indoor events can use Kylätalo Hukkatupa next to the sauna; ask the association when you enquire.

Good to know

Lake water can be dark with limited visibility and cyanobacteria may occur; there is no lifeguard. The City of Alavus publishes beach and water-quality updates. Weekend sauna rentals follow the Sep–May rules on the Sydänmaa village website.

Rates on the Sydänmaa village website: four-hour sauna slot 10 € for association members and 25 € at the standard rate; full day Mon–Thu 30 € / 60 €; Fri–Sun day rental outside summer 40 € / 80 €; full Fri–Sun weekend outside summer 80 € / 180 €. Weekend rentals are offered separately only from 1 September to 31 May. Kylätalo packages that include the sauna are listed in the same price table.
