Our core dataset is powered by official sources including Metsähallitus and LIPAS (the national database for sports facilities in Finland). We pull the latest GPX routes and location metadata directly from these authorities.
Note: Our database was last synced in 2026. While we strive for accuracy, always consult the official website which we display on each place or route or notices at the trail for safety-critical updates or seasonal closures.
No. Huts.fi is an independent Finnish platform. While we work with official open-data sets from organizations like Metsähallitus, we are a private entity.
Yes. Accessing our maps, trail data, and field information is currently free for all users.
We operate on a community-first model: we provide the platform, and our users help keep it accurate by sharing real-time updates (e.g., Is there firewood at the laavu? or Is the sand field dry enough to play?).
Our roadmap includes:
• Offline Maps: Downloadable trails for when you lose signal in the backwoods.
• Trail Navigation: Follow routes directly from your Phone or Watch.
• Live Safety Sharing: Real-time location sharing so friends and family know you're safe on the trail.
