Description

Korpipolku is a short, one-way nature trail of about 1,4 km through the core of Haltiala woodland in Helsinki, Uusimaa, inside the city’s large Central Park forest block. It is an official guided luontopolku with eight field panels about forest nature and restoration, and main trail boards at both ends. The City of Helsinki publishes maps, accessibility detail and service contacts on its Korpipolku page, with wider context on walking rules, cafés and neighbouring routes on Haltialan luontoalue. In English the same trail is titled Wilderness trail. The line runs on forest footpath and duckboards between the ancient-forest fringe and Kuninkaantammentie; markings are blue diamond-shaped symbols on trees together with spruce waymarks. Ninniohia notes in a Paloheinä tips post that the start sits roughly one kilometre from the Niskala parking area at Kuninkaantammentie 40 with roadside signing toward the trailhead, and mentions blue–yellow tape in addition to the spruce markers. Duckboard sections can sit under water after wet spells. The terrain is deliberately narrow and uneven in places, with steep grades and a large step in height on the steepest climb; the city states the trail is hard underfoot but partly rough, mixes fine crushed rock, roots, stones and duckboards, and is not suitable for prams or wheelchairs. Reserve rules for Haltiala’s nature reserves forbid letting dogs run loose, making fire outside designated places, camping, cycling off marked routes on sensitive patches and straying off signed paths on the primeval forest reserve. Open fires, grilling and tenting do not belong on the narrow Korpipolku boardwalk itself.

Ninniohia recommends using the Niskala parking area at Kuninkaantammentie 40 roughly one kilometre from the trail start and following on-road signs toward the luontopolku. At the Pitkäkoski end, Pitkäkosken parkkipaikka and other Pitkäkoski reserve car parks sit close to Kuninkaantammen ulkoilumaja services; pair those stops with the city pages if you arrive by car from the river side. Good to know

Carry footwear with grip when duckboards are slick or icy; there is no lighting or winter maintenance on this forest trail.
