Sveitsi nature trail is a short marked route of about 2.1 km through Sveitsinpuisto, the large wooded recreation area next to central Hyvinkää in Uusimaa. Hyvinkään kaupunki lists the trail among seven municipal nature trails, with yellow paint marks and brochure downloads on its luontopolut pages. The path tours the suppa area around Sveitsinlukko, a deep kettle in the esker landscape inside a nature reserve zone that has covered part of the park since 1989; wider context, winter ski links, cycling rules on conservation land, and history of the sanatorium-era outdoor use are on the city’s Sveitsinpuisto routes page. In practice you walk mostly on built sand-based park paths shared with other visitors. Near the Perttula sports block you pass facilities such as Perttulan ulkokuntoilupaikka close to Hyvinkään jäähalli, then drop toward Kuntoportaat (kahdet portaat) and Sveitsin ulkokuntoilupaikka. Getting there

Arriving by bus or bike, aim for the Sveitsi sports and pool block and follow the luontopolku signs from the information boards.

Good to know

Inside the nature reserve, cycling is allowed only on signed routes, off-trail riding is prohibited, and everyman’s rights are tighter than on ordinary forest land (for example collecting plants other than berries and mushrooms is not allowed). Nature trail sections do not receive machine winter maintenance, but heavy foot traffic keeps main paths usable most of the time. Respect any temporary route notices from Hyvinkään kaupunki.

History

According to Hyvinkää-lehti’s 2023 interview with greenspace designer Matti Mattila, Sveitsin luontopolku was completed in 2015 and the shorter Sveitsinpuiston kulttuuripolku followed a few years later; both starts sit at Sveitsinmaja parking. Sveitsinpuisto itself drew wellness visitors from the late 19th-century sanatorium period onward, which shaped today’s dense outdoor network.
