A magnificent location on the shore of an old quartzite quarry has a spacious lean -to and outdoor table with benches for hiking, mountain bikers and mountain skiers. In addition, Tahko Safari has a private lean -to at the break. The quartzite mine was in operation from 1940 to 1948, when it produced white quartzite sand and gravel. The sand was transported to the porcelain plant about 40,000 tonnes before the mine was terminated. There was quite a bit of a pit that was filled with clear water.
