If you are on the Kainuu Tervareit kayaking route this is the launch site after you bypass the Katerma power plant. You are going to need to bypass another power plant in about 10 kilometers (Kallioinen power plant). The Ontojoki River used to have powerful rapids but not it is in between two power plants. It is good to keep in mind that the current can be very strong in this 10 km stretch, especially in the narrow parts. There are trout, pike, white fish and perch in the river. They also stock the river with rainbow trout.
